Rise Keys RK-1 (Pre-order)
Pre-order — ships in an estimated 4–6 weeks. Cancel any time before it ships for a full refund.
You own a keyboard. Maybe it is in a closet. The RK-1 is a small box that sits between it and the sound, and fixes wrong notes in under ten milliseconds — before you hear them, before anyone else does.
Plug in the keys you already have. A controller from last week, a digital piano from 1998, a $40 mini board — anything that sends MIDI. It becomes a current instrument: 135 sounds, automatic pedalling, 83 lessons, a looper, stage visuals, and a speaker, out of one box the size of a paperback.
What it actually does
Corrects, without taking over. An order-3 model plus key and chord tracking scores every note you play. Notes that fit are left completely alone. Notes that do not are moved to the nearest one that does. It happens in under 10 ms, so you never hear the mistake — and the better you play, the less it touches. Steady players see roughly 3% of notes moved.
Pedals for you. It follows your harmony, lets chords ring, keeps runs clean and lifts at every chord change, like a pianist’s foot. Mini keyboards with no pedal jack suddenly sound whole. Plug in a real pedal and your foot overrides it instantly.
Teaches, honestly. 83 lessons across 12 genres with falling notes and real grading. During anything graded, correction is switched off entirely — so the score is yours, not the box’s. Import your own MIDI files and they become graded lessons too.
Proves you are improving. Practice minutes, notes played, and how much help you needed, week by week. The assist line goes down. That chart is the product’s actual goal: to be needed less.
Plays. 135 instruments — 25 original FM voices generated live inside the box, plus a full General MIDI set — nine effects, a looper, an arpeggiator, and six stage visualizers that react to what you play.
Teacher mode
Put a QR code on screen and every phone in the room follows your playing live, view only. A second code puts the full dashboard on your own iPad. Local Wi-Fi only — nothing leaves the room, and no student can touch your settings.
The things that are usually a catch
- No subscription. Ever. $179 buys the device, all 135 sounds, all 83 lessons, and free updates for life.
- No app and no account. The dashboard is served by the box itself to any browser on your own Wi-Fi. Nothing to install.
- No cloud. Your playing never leaves the box. There is no server to send it to.
- It works with your keyboard. USB or 5-pin MIDI. If it turns out not to, that is a full refund and we pay the return shipping.
- It cannot break your rig. A hardware relay joins MIDI IN straight to MIDI OUT whenever the box is unpowered, crashed or updating. The failure state is a plain cable.
In the box
The RK-1, a USB-C power supply, the keyboard cable yours needs (choose USB-B, USB-C, micro-USB or 5-pin at checkout), and a quick-start card. Nothing else required — no computer, no interface, no speakers.
Every first-run unit is numbered and initialed, with a signed certificate the box itself verifies.
Retail at launch: $199. Early adopter: $179. Teachers: $159.
